ABOUT TELEVISION HEAVEN

Television Heaven is a work in progress...

...it's aim is to preserve the memory of television programmes both past and present that the writers/reviewers either consider to be true classics, or have a lasting influence on what we watch or how we view the world around us. To this end as long as programme makers make programmes Television Heaven will have enough material to keep expanding. So far we have only scratched the surface...

Television Heaven was launched in January 2000 and by May of that year the visitor rate grew from a handful of friends to almost 8,000 visitors. The site continues to grow and by 2005 that visitor rate was approaching an average of 1.5 million hits a month. This year (2007) I have decided to give the site a whole new look.

The relaunch of Television Heaven is to keep the site looking fresh and modern. It has undergone several changes in the past but this is the first for several years and definitely the most ambitious. All the 'classic' TV content is still there but I intend to keep the site up to date with reviews of newer programmes, too, as today's programmes are tomorrow's classics and I'm hoping that Television Heaven will be around for many more years.

Television Heaven is one of first of three linked sites. It's direct companion site www.teletronic.co.uk , is also television related but leans more towards articles than reviews. It is mainly concerned with the history of television.

The third site is www.reminiscethis.co.uk a British nostalgia site that is still in its early days, but includes a fascinating section called Diaries of a Sheffield Girl which more than eloquently captures a great period of change through the 1950s and 1960s.

CREDITS

Obviously when putting together a website of this size and depth it is necessary to research numerous resources and call on an untold amount of references. This means utilising what is available as well as relying on the memories of those people who have been gracious enough to grant me interviews or send me emails with pieces of information that might not be available elsewhere. There will be unavoidable instances where something you have read here may be available elsewhere either in print or on the Internet. That is because Television Heaven is a factual work and not a work of fiction. It is inevitable that comparisons may be drawn by articles appearing here to what you have read elsewhere. However, every attempt is made to avoid the wholesale reproduction of other authors work. All the articles on this website, unless otherwise stated are the original words of the attributed authors.
