ARMCHAIR THEATRE - THE FIRST THREE YEARS IN PICTURES

Janet Munro.
Janet Munro's first television role was as a young suicide in 'Trial By Candlelight' (below), though by the time it had been shown on television she had been seen in other productions. Munro's most famous role was in trhe British science fiction movie 'The Day The Earth Caught Fire'. She grew up on British TV and was dubbed "Miss Television of 1958" by her fans. Her marriages to actors Tony Wright and Ian Hendry ended unsuccesfully and Munro developed an acute alcohol problem. She died of chronic heart disease in 1972. She was only 38 years of age.
